Can you believe 2013 is here!  If you haven't already done so, you will soon be putting out the new year's calender and planning for upcoming events, scheduling appointments etc.  I'm sure you can think back on 2012 and reflect on all the plans that you made some of which came to fruition and some that did not.   There are so many things that we put on our "to do" list.

Thinking back over this past year, one thing some of the ladies at The Bible Church of Beebe put on their list was memorizing Scripture.  Those who have been following this blog may remember previous posts on memorizing Scripture.  One of the recent Scripture passages was Psalm 1.  We started out memorizing the first few verses and then decided to memorized all of Psalm 1 because the picture that it paints of the blessed man is worthy to be emulated.  Psalm 1 reads:
How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers. 4 The wicked are not so, But they are like chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked will perish. (NASB)
As followers of Jesus Christ, we do want to delight in His law and meditate on it day and night.  As we meditate on God's Word, apply the truths to our minds, the Holy Spirit works in our thinking to transform us into the likeness of Christ. (2 Corinthians 3:18; Romans 12:2)

So as we begin planning for 2013, let's all have on our calender to be like the blessed man in the Psalm 1!  May our LORD bless you as you seek to be like Him.
